Information We Collect and Use

The information WEBE collects is used in a variety of ways, including: (a) to provide culturally rooted maternal health education; (b) to send program notifications and health resources via email and text messaging; (c) to conduct community-based research to address Black maternal health disparities; (d) to offer one-to-one pregnancy and preconception support; (e) to share relevant community resources and partnership opportunities; (f) for internal program evaluation and improvement; (g) to understand the demographics and health needs of Black women in Mecklenburg County; (h) to fulfill requests for our "Just Between Us" and "Building Boldness For Better Health" programs; (i) to maintain our WEBE News newsletter communications; and (j) for other purposes consistent with our mission to empower Black females to achieve their highest health potential before, during, and after pregnancy.

Information Sharing

We do not disclose Personal Information to third parties, except when one or more of the following conditions is true: (a) we have your explicit permission to make the disclosure; (b) the disclosure is consistent with the purpose for which the personal information was obtained; (c) the disclosure is to trusted program partners with signed confidentiality agreements for program delivery purposes; (d) the disclosure is permitted by relevant law; (e) the Personal Information to be disclosed is publicly available; (f) the disclosure is reasonably related to organizational partnerships that advance our maternal health mission; (g) the disclosure is in our sole discretion necessary for legal compliance, to satisfy any law, regulation, subpoena or government request, or in connection with litigation; (h) the disclosure is to outside service providers to perform certain administrative or technical services for us; or (i) the disclosure is for purposes of conducting community-based research to identify root causes and solutions for the Black maternal health crisis, with appropriate anonymization and ethical research protocols.

Text Messaging Consent

By providing your phone number to WEBE, you consent to receive text messages including: (a) monthly program notifications for our educational workshops; (b) health education tips and community resources; (c) event reminders for "Just Between Us" and "Building Boldness For Better Health" sessions; and (d) research participation opportunities, with a maximum frequency of four messages per month.
